The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap

Here is a photo of my postcard and here's how I made it. I took two pieces of heavy scrapbook paper and cut them down to a 6.5 X 5 inch size.  I folded the red paper in half lengthwise and cut (starting at the folded edge) 1/2 inch strips, but I didn't cut the whole way through, I stopped 1/2 inch from the edge. I cut six 1/2 inch strips from the green paper. I unfolded the red paper and wove the green strips in between the red strips.  I used my sewing machine to sew the word "create" multiple times across the top and bottom of the card since the theme of the swap is "CREATE." I also used my sewing machine to stitch small flowers along a velvet rick rack ribbon on either side of the card. In the center of the card, I used a piece of my hand dyed, hand spun yarn to tie a handmade button to the card. VOILA!!!!

This is a valentine I received from a friend.  They are seeds!  I love this!!!

Orange

     This is my latest handwoven rug.  The theme is "orange." Yep, 33 different fabrics that each has a lot of or a little bit of ORANGE.

I love orange!!!

Those Deer!

     Here are those deer AFTER they've eaten my grass, trampled my yard and then pooped ALL over it. Deer poop A LOT! Did you know that???

They know I'm watching. They're secretly laughing. I know they'll be back!!!

They're back! Again.

     The two dear deer that were in our yard snacking on our grass and then POOPING on it the other day were back, AND they brought two friends.  Yep, two became FOUR eating and pooping deer.  The deer are cute, the POOP is NOT.  Here they are chowing down and then skidaddling out when Boomer found out they were back.

 

Cute, right? NOT when they lift their tails.

   

Yep, right back atcha there, Sweetums!  I'm watchin' you!!!

  

Ok, here they go, over the fence. Yep, they stomped my lilac and killed it.

  

Those knees don't have much clearance.

Bye, Bye Snow!

     The snow and ice are gone for now and HOPEFULLY gone for good.  Now it's all rain. Here are my last snowy pix from the weekend.

Still Stuck In Snow

We are STILL covered in snow and ice. This is day #5 and it's getting old.  Most schools are closed, except my daughter's school. That could be interesting.  I don't think she'll make it.

On The Third Day of the Snowstorm...

     On the third day of the snowstorm we decided to venture to the grocery store in my car and WE MADE IT. While we were there the snow really started coming down which made the mister (who was at home) really nervous. We purchased our groceries and went home with no trouble at all.

     Time for some sledding fun.

I made the hat and it's way too big but she loves it.  She looks like a Smurf in it.

  

I'm teaching them the technique for speed, lean back and lift the front.

   

The ski goggles are a necessity.

     After sledding, we saw a group of six people SKIING down our street. We wanted to do that too.

It was kind rough going for this guy. It was his first time skiing.

  

We met a dog who shares my name.  This is Anna!
