Wiener Dog Tales

I LOVE THIS!!!!  Saw it at a restaurant the other day.
We had an awesome Christmas. Boomer, our Dachshund , got the best gift, a giant gingerbread dog biscuit.  My daughter bakes special biscuits for him and he can smell them when they're baking, thus he goes nuts until he gets one.  Once he gets one, he wants another one though!!! This explains his plump body. Here he is on Christmas morning begging for his gingerbread boy.
"Please, may I have some gingerbread?"
Boomer also got a few stuffed toys.  The minute he gets a stuffed toy his goal is to see how fast he can "kill the toy"  by chewing it apart and getting the squeaker out.  Once he has the squeaker he runs around with it tossing it into the air and catching it.  Here he is surrounded by the stuffing.

He likes to hide under chairs too!
All tuckered out!!!
Happy New year to all!  I promise I'll have lots of knitting pictures in the next post.  I'm working on a few scarves, a stocking and another hat with a Dachshund on it.

Cheers!!!

Name the Squirrel!

Above the fog!
We live on a hill and I love it when we're above the fog.  That means we get to see the sun!
It's been raining cats and dogs and is going to continue to do so in a few days, but for right now, I can see the sun and IT'S NOT RAINING and THAT'S AWESOME.

Here's a picture of the hat that I just finished.  I love these two shades of orange and green together!!!  The yarn that I used is Rowan www.knitrowan.com/  Kid Silk Haze and Felted Tweed Aran.  The Kid Silk Haze is what gives the hat the fuzzy look and very soft feel.

Don't miss the hand-made button on the top!
I'm still working on my second felted stocking and I'll have pictures of that to show you soon.  I work on a bunch of projects at once, so here's a picture of another hat that I'm making.  This one is also made with the same Rowan yarns but I've also added the white yarn which is by Blue Sky Alpacas www.blueskyalpacas.com and is called Suri Merino. The Suri is baby alpaca and is absolutely the most wonderful fiber in the world to knit.

I love these colors too!
Alpacas!

Finally, this little guy was born under our deck this summer.  We've watched him grow to be this size.  He comes to visit us every day and he eats the birdseed from our bird feeder. He was the tiniest little thing when he was born, only a few inches long when we first noticed him. He's now about 5 or 6 inches long, not including the big bushy tail.

He or she needs a name!  If you have any ideas, email them to me.

Sleeping Wiener Dogs!

Sleepy Head

This is my new favorite shot of our wiener dog, Boomer.  He loves to bury himself under blankets, rugs, cushions...  Anything!!!  The real reason isn't because he was bred to crawl deep into holes in the ground looking for badgers, it's because he's really smart and doesn't want us to know what he's doing.  Of course in this picture he was truly asleep and I accidentally awoke him, but in the past, here are a few of the crazy things he's done all while undercover and not a human soul having any concept as to the damage he's doing:

Chewed holes in the sofa all the way down to the wood (we got rid of the sofa and never replaced it).

Eaten through electrical cords (ones that were plugged in).

Gnawed holes in our carpet so big one could sprain an ankle in them.

Destroyed I don't know how many plastic doggy kennels because he treats them as chew toys.

Of course he's bitten a few peeps too!!!

We still love him and here's what he looks like when he's on his best behavior.
Can you see him under there? Good dog!!!

If you'd like some really awesome sweets for the holidays, check out Savannah's Candy Kitchen www.savannahcandy.com in Savannah, Georgia.  The Praline cake is the best thing you'll taste in a long time and the chocolate Gophers would be the next best thing to that.

Praline Cake
I'm working on one more Leigh Radford Christmas stocking at the moment.  The colors will be different from the first one, so if you'd like to knit one, you'll have some new ideas for different color combinations that look great.  I'll have pictures in my next post.

It's been raining cats and dogs here so I have no lovely pictures of Oregon for today. It's rained a couple of inches today and we are supposed to get a couple more inches tomorrow.  Our football team is in the state championship game today so my kids are going to get a little wet. I guess we're accustomed to it! Go Wolves!!!

Hope you're in a sunny place!

Wired!

Wired!
Ever feel like you're a little too wired?  I happened to have my camera in the front seat of the car the other night when I drove straight into this sunset. I snapped the picture and this is what I had when I got home.  It's still beautiful and I especially like the red  crosswalk sign.

The sun was shining this weekend so I got some really fantastic photos.

I also added a picture of more available hats to the bottom of the blog.

Anna
I took this on Friday.  I wanted to take a few more pix but someone blared their horn
for me to get the  #$%% out of their way.
I took the next picture on Saturday sans sunshine and horn-blaring!!!

Spiky Doos and Top-knots

Malabrigo hat with mohair spiky doos.

Here's the newest hat made with two shades of Malabrigo yarn  www.malabrigoyarn.com.
I used hand-dyed mohair that was given to me by a friend ages ago for the spikes. An i-cord tied into a knot makes the top-knot. Perfect for your little "monster!"

A few days ago I shared a story about my husband removing "the mother of all beehives" from under our house.  This reminded me of my absolute favorite honey (I wish those bees under the house made honey) and I wanted to share it with you.  If you love honey, like we do, try this:
