Be Sweet Hat and Halloween

Here is my latest hat that I just completed.  In a previous post I showed you a picture of Be Sweet's www.besweetproducts.com/ T-shirt yarn which is made in South Africa of recycled t-shirt fabric.  The hat was great fun to make but turned out a little on the stiff side.   So stiff that If I turn the hat upside down it could be a bowl.  Anyway, it's really cute, very cottony, very shapely and very blue.

On a different note, today is Halloween!  This is a big day for us since it is my oldest daughter's favorite holiday (mine is Christmas).  The house is decorated and we're ready for the wee ones (and the big ones) to drop by for some candy tonight.  Our celebrating really began on Friday when I substitute taught some very excited  first through fourth graders. Luckily I was only there for half the day and the regular teachers had to control the "Harvest" parties.

Yesterday, was the "Halloween on Horseback" party at the barn.  I've got great pictures to show you of the horses and riders and of the horses bobbing for apples.  Only one horse was victorious in retrieving an apple and it wasn't ours.

This is Lux! My daughter is turning him into a John Deere tractor.

Lux really would like to know what the heck his owner is doing to him.

Ready to bob for apples!

                                                              Time for apple bobbing.
Here's Lux having a go at it.  I think he wanted to just drink all of the water first and then take
an apple but the game was timed so that didn't work.  He ended up getting an apple anyway (by hand).

Here's Ocho, the winner!

Got it!!!

I have one last Halloween picture to show and it's of my wiener dog, Boomer, dressed in his costume.  If you check out the teeth, you can see that he's not too happy about being a hotdog for Halloween.  I think he'd actually prefer to be a shark given the number of people he's attacked and bitten.  Bad dog!!!

Happy Halloween!
Anna

I bought a really cool clock form this artist at Art in the Burbs last week.  Here's a picture of it.

Babies and Hats, Babies and Hats, Babies and Hats

I think I have finally recovered from my biggest art show of the year, Art in the Burbs.  The show went really well with the greatest sales happening on Friday night.  Saturday is always a bit slow considering all of the parents are at sports events with their wee ones.  Speaking of "wee," I picked up some really awesome new vocabulary ("wee" being one of my new words) after spending a lot of time at the show chatting with my friend who is from Scotland.  I also learned a new word for T.V. and that's "telly."  "Telly" sounds so much sweeter than "television."  My third new word is "porridge."  Gotta love that word too.

Anyway, back to the show! Sunday was and awesome day too with more sales happening that day than Saturday but not nearly as many as Friday.  All in all it was a great show and I want to show you some pictures from the big event.

This is my display!  It is supposed to look like a giant pot of flowers.
I even had a lovely lady tell me that it definitely looked like that.  Yea!!!!

I had soooo very many friends come by the show to visit with me and shop for hats.  Everyone that  came for a hat definitely found one or two that they just had to have.  You just have to check out Vincent.  I don't think he came to buy hats, he just came for some good, old, playtime fun.  Check this little guy out!!!

He gets livelier as time goes on!

Here he is hanging out IN my box of extra hats.
Just wait, it gets BETTER!!!

Once mom takes him out of the basket, he just hasn't had enough and decides to tumble face-first back into it.

Here he is having more fun than any little boy around town!

There is one more visitor that I have to show you.  Check out Natalie!!!

Lookin' a little too serious with this hat.
Let's try a different one!

She says "Yep, this is the one. It matches my pants!"

My next show will be next Friday, November 5 in the same neighborhood as Art in the Burbs.  After that, my hats are off to Atlanta for another show.

Good day!!!
      Anna

P.S.  I all of the sudden have an incredible number of hits to my blog today. Yippeeee!!!!  People from Australia, Poland, Iraq, Canada, U.K. and Vietnam  have viewed  it this morning.

Keep reading and come back!!!!

Someone Came To Visit Me Yesterday!

This is my hat model and she came to visit me yesterday. She brought her mom and brother along.  Check out these cute pictures of her!

This is her in my one and only wiener dog hat.  This dog looks just like my dachshund, Boomer

Here's her brother trying on a hat that is waaaaaaay too big for him.

My biggest show of the year starts tomorrow.  I hope to see you at Art in the Burbs.  www.artintheburbs.org/

Babies, Boxers and Bikes

So I wanted to show you a few pictures of some hats from last year.  I'll have tons of hats at Art in the Burbs www.artintheburbs.org/ this weekend.  Some hats will be like these, but most will be very different with a lot of my new hats having needle felted designs on them.  I'll also have a few very colorful scarves.
The colors are the best part of my hats.  I love bright colors and I love to mix and match colors. Color is incredibly important to me since I live in the Pacific Northwest where it can be very dreary and dark for about nine months of the year.  In a few months I'll be posting a lot of pictures from summer to remind you and me that the sunshine and warm weather will return soon!

I happened to see my very first "cyclocross" biking event this weekend.  What a treat!  I have never seen anything like it!  It was a bright and sunny day  and I was told  that this wasn't nearly as exciting as when it is pouring rain and muddy.  I guess these cyclers LOVE to get muddy.  One rider bragged to me about face planting in the mud two weeks  earlier. CRAZY DUDE!!! They even had special peeps there to wash the mud off the bikes.  Sorry to say they weren't very busy.  Check out this very bored bike washer reading a magazine to his dog.

I just have to include the cute dog pictures that I took while I was there and a few pix of my favorite biker.  She got 2nd place!!!

Hand-spun for Your Little Honeybun

Remember This really cool hand-spun yarn called "Smack" that I bought at The Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival a few weeks ago.? Well here it is in the form of an awesome little baby hat.  The yarn is fabulously soft for your babe's head, no rough stuff here.  All the little nubbies and curls that stick out all over the place make for great texture.  I love this one!!!

I just had to include some Fall color from Oregon in this post.  The leaves still aren't at their peak yet.  More photos to follow in the next few days.

Here's a shot of Mount Hood with very little snow.  This most certainly will be changing very soon.  More pictures of the mountain will follow too, as long as it is clear enough outside to see it!!!

Applefest at Oregon Heritage Farm

The pouring rain made for a very abbreviated visit to the Applefest at Oregon Heritage Farms  www.oregonheritagefarm.com/  .  The goats were awake, but obviously the pigs were trying to sleep through the downpour.

Spring!

This hat matches the "Spring" scarf that is on the right side of my blog and rolled into a spiral.  It's perfect for Spring because it is made with 50% Pima Cotton and 50% Tencel by Classic Elite Yarns.   www.classiceliteyarns.com/

More Bouncing Balls!!!

I just finished this family of "Bouncing Balls" hats.  I used Berroco's  www.berroco.com  100% Peruvian Highland Wool.  The yarn has great substance and helps the hat hold its shape.  I love how the "Bouncing Balls"  stand out on the brown background!

Check out the babies wearing my hats on the right side of my blog page!

Fabulous Fall

In honor of the approaching Fall colors I photographed this beautiful new skein of Manos del Uruguay "Maxima"  www.manos.com.uy/.  It is 100% extrafine merino wool, kettle dyed, and "to die for" when it comes to vibrance of color and softness.

The color of the yarn matches perfectly with this "Tropicana" plant in my backyard,

AND the tomatoes that my daughter is still harvesting.
